Welcome to Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School.
June 3, 2008 Dear OLA Parents: It doesn’t seem possible that the 2007-2008 school year has come to a close. In thinking over the accomplishments we have made and celebrations that have occurred, it truly has been a wonderful year. The faculty started out the year by getting together at St. Francis Springs Prayer Center in Eden, NC for some quality sharing time. It was good for all of us to just get together for some fun and planning. We greeted the students in August and for the first time had two Pre-School classes. Eighty two percent of our Pre School is returning to OLA for Kindergarten and we will have two classes next year. Our students have accomplished much this year. Angeline Morales (5th Grade) won the MACS Spelling Bee and competed in the Charlotte Observer Spelling Bee, Our Academic Games Team (Angeline Morales, Danielle Morlando, Meghan Santschi, and Alex Pratt – all fifth graders) completed with two students from Saint Patrick’s School in the Academic Games National Tournament in Florida and came home with a Second Place finish in Presidents and a Seventh Place Finish in Propaganda. Angeline also placed eighth in Presidents and Meghan placed sixth in Propaganda. Just two short weeks ago OLA present our 3rd Annual Multicultural Festival. What a celebration it was! The diversity of OLA is part of what makes us the special school that we are. Thank you to everyone for all of the hard work that went into putting it together – to all of the parents who spent hours at the school helping with the hallways, to all of the families who sent in information and items from your native countries or those that you have visited, and a special thank your to everyone who brought in the wonderful food. Our 2nd Annual All School Picnic was a huge success. We all were able to get together and just enjoy each others company as we played and had lunch together. June 4 is the last day of school. Our Annual Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 AM and dismissal is at 1:00 PM. Thank you again, for all that each and every one of you does for us. We all look forward to welcoming you back in August. My prayers are that you all have a safe and restful summer.
